Warranty and Return Policies

I guarantee my work, and offer a full one-year warranty on construction. This does not include damage caused by accident, neglect, exposure to extreme temperatures, thieves, termites, pirates, hurricanes, tornadoes, locusts, radiation, giant mutant guitar-eating lobster people or extraterrestrials (not a complete list).

If you are buying an in-stock Black Mesa guitar from the "For Sale" page, I will hold your funds in escrow for seven days from the date of your receipt of the guitar. If in that week you decide you don't like it, simply return it to me and I'll refund your money. I do stipulate that you pay for shipping and insurance, and the guitar must return to me in the same condition as when it left.

It's a little bit different if you are buying a full-on custom guitar. This is a tricky area. On one hand, your order is a complete act of faith and you won't get to feel or hear your new guitar until it's built and delivered to you.

On the other hand, I will spend several weeks building your guitar, and I'm essentially your employee for those several weeks. As with anyone else, my time has value.

After a lot of soul-searching, I have concluded that when you order a custom guitar and I build it to your specifications, it's yours. If you decide you don't like it for any reason other than quality of workmanship, I cannot take it back. I will, however, do my utmost to change or remediate whatever it is you don't like; in short, I'll make every effort to see that you are satisfied.

Having said that, I will also say that no one has ever returned a custom Black Mesa guitar because they didn't like it. If you're seriously considering having a full-on custom guitar built for yourself, in all likelihood you are a serious player and you know what you want. The chances that our combined experience will produce an unacceptable guitar are pretty remote. You will be actively involved in the creation of your guitar; I'll send you frequent updates, often with detailed photographs; I'll ask your opinion on a huge variety of topics and ask for your approval before making any significant changes. It's a continuous partnership from the outset, so you can be assured that at the end you won't open the case and get a nasty surprise.
